We are a team of experts who deliver trusted art services based on a highly professional and disciplined approach, we share over one hundred and fifty years of collective experience between us in appraising fine art, collectibles and antiques. Brigitte Fletcher
Principal, B. Fletcher & Associates, LLC

Brigitte Fletcher brings over twenty years of experience to her firm serving both a private and a corporate clientele as an adviser for all aspects of collection management, including purchase and sale and donations. Brigitte founded her art advisory firm in 1992, later adding the appraisal practice and eventually expanding it into a small focused multi-specialty firm, with a solid team of senior-level art appraisers in core specialties, and a reliable network of specialized professionals, all holding the USPAP certification, in areas such as Books & Manuscripts, Coins, and Wine. Her mission is to offer trusted and reliable art services to collectors, museums and related professionals.

Brigitte graduated from the University of Paris; she earned an MA in Fine Arts/ Professions of the Arts from Christie's Education. She is a graduate of the Attingham School for the Study of the English Country House and Collections and of the Royal Collection Studies, UK, a highly respected program based on the study of collecting in all the arts by the Royal family, and served on its American board from 2005 to 2011. As a Fine Arts appraiser Brigitte is a long standing member of the Appraisers Association of America. Brigitte has taught art history courses at Boston Architectural College and at RISD, has published articles, and lectures in the field.

Susan Forster
Fine Art

Susan Forster offers B.Fletcher & Associates' clients her experience of over twenty years in the Fine Arts field, including Paintings and Sculpture, and specialized expertise in Prints and Drawings. She has been appraising, teaching, and lecturing on Art of the 18th to the 20th centuries since 1993 and has taught 19th and 20th century Art at Wake Forest University and Duke University School of Continuing Education. Susan has performed appraisals for Insurance, Donations, Estates and for Museums and Private and Corporate Collections.

Susan received her BA at Wellesley College, earned her MA at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, and is a PhD Candidate in Art History (Modern European Art) at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. She completed the Certified Appraisal Studies, New York University. Susan Forster has successfully completed the Uniform Standards of Professional Practice examination.

Jeff Ira
Gems and Jewelry

Jeff Ira brings to our firm twenty-five years of experience in the jewelry industry. He has been an appraiser, diamond grader and dealer since 1978 and his career includes appraising for estate planners, attorneys, jewelry consumers and professionals. He specializes in antique/estate fine jewelry, diamonds, contemporary jewelry, fine watches, colored gemstones and pearls.

Jeff earned his BA from the University of South Florida, and he received his Graduate Gemologist Diploma (G.G.) from the Gemmological Institute of America (G.I.A.) in 1986. He is a member of the G.I.A. Alumni Association and a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA). He belongs to the New England Jewelers Association.

Alexander Yale Goriansky

Alexander Goriansky offers B. Fletcher & Associates' clients the experience of a long career in his specialty. He has been a trusted appraiser and consultant, and a collector and dealer of silver for more than thirty years. During that time he has worked with the Museum of Fine Arts, the Boston Athenaeum Museum, and the Nichols House Museum in Boston.

Alexander Goriansky studied Art History at Harvard College, successfully completed the Appraisal Course of the American Society of Appraisers, and successfully completed the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice examination.

Johanna McBrien
American Furniture, Decorative Arts

Johanna McBrien has over twenty years of experience in the field of American Furniture and Decorative Arts. She is an appraiser and consultant who offers B. Fletcher & Associates' clients the solid experience of an expert who has worked in a wide range of relevant fields, including the antiques industry and the art publishing industry. Johanna has also worked with museums including Historic New England in Boston, and the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA and for auction houses in New Hampshire and New York. She has published numerous articles, co-authored catalogs and publications, and lectured and taught courses in American Furniture and Decorative Arts at the Boston Architectural College and at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Johanna McBrien received her BA in Art History from Boston University, earned an MA in Early American Culture from the Winterthur Program and is a graduate of the Attingham School for the Study of the English Country House and Collections. Johanna McBrien has successfully completed the Uniform Standards of Professional Practice examination.

Lewis A. Shepard
Fine Art

Lewis A. Shepard brings to the team of B. Fletcher & Associates more than thirty years of experience and knowledge in his specialty. He has been an appraiser, collector and consultant since the 1970s. He has written appraisals for estate, insurance and donation purposes, also advising numerous collectors, art galleries and museums throughout the United States. He has written texts, exhibition catalogs and magazine articles within his areas of expertise. He was the Coordinator of Appraisal Studies at the Rhode Island School of Design 2001-2004, Department of Continuing Education.

Lewis A. Shepard received his BA in Art History from Rutgers University and his MA from Indiana University in the same discipline. He completed the Training Program at Sotheby-Parke Benett Galleries, where he was an auctioneer, cataloguer and department head. He served as the Curator of Collections at The Mead Art Museum at Amherst College. Mr. Shepard has taught at Indiana University, Amherst College, Smith College, RISD and Bentley College. He has lectured at numerous museums in New England. He has successfully completed the Uniform Standards of Professional Practice examination. He is a member of the Appraisers Association of America.
